Well, there are probably those that will say, “We’ve seen worse”, but I doubt I will know them. The last few days have been… emotional, to say the least. After the ice storm that past through the Ozarks Tuesday (day and night), my yard looks as if Thor, the god of thunder, decided to have drumming practice on it. There’s not one tree, I don’t think, that doesn’t look like it wasn’t stepped on by a really big shoe.
Needless to say, I don’t have power. The electrical and phone line to my home is currently holding up a very large tree limb, and my roof is currently the landing pad of three trees. Luckily they aren’t very big, but I bet I’ll still have to get te roof replaced in the future.
I have it better than many, though. I have a ventless propane heater, as do my parents, so my family and I aren’t sitting around freezing at night. My parents also own a small generator. It only powers a couple of light bulbs, and a hotplate, but it’s better than no power at all.
I will post some pictures up tomorrow. I would have done it tonight, but I was so busy with things today, I forgot to bring the SD card I have them on.
Luckily my employer has power (sporatically), and online access. Hopefully it will still be up tomorrow.
Til tomorrow,
Daniel
That’s the 64 dollar question, isn’t it. Believe it or not, I am working on it. I’ve been re-evaluating what I’ve done in the past and decided to go in a different direction with it, format wise. Don’t worry though. The story will be the same. It just won’t be in a 6 panel format.
Another addition that will be most prominent will be color. I was wanting to do color since day one, but didn’t go that direction because I thought that it would take to long to produce. Having played with it some, I no longer think that will be the case.
As I said before, I’m abandoning the 6 panel for something larger. A single comic page format. It will give me the room to produce the cinematic look that I originally wanted to produce, plus I have plans for this strip in the future that will work best with a standard comic page format.
So, a larger page, with color… Yes, I’m biting off a lot to chew. It also means that I will only be able to produce one page a week, probably. I’m currently looking for a new job that pays enough that I won’t have to work a second job, and will have time to focus even more on the comic. When/if that happens , expect (hopefully) two to three pages a week.
Believe me, no one wants this strip to come out more than me. And the new format will debut some time next week. The change will be a good one.

but I have been swamped. Luckily, the thanksgiving holiday has affored me some free time, and there will be new strips up next week. Can’t say about the week after that, but I’m gonna’ to do my best to keep them current.
Till next time,

Why the hell did I start a web-comic this time of year? I really should have waited till after the holidays.
Just so you know, my life has become very, very hectic at the moment, so the strip will be updated somewhat sporadically. I’ll try to keep to the schedule, but don’t be surprised if you don’t find an updated strip when you check on a scheduled publishing day (Monday, Wednesday, & Friday).
Why, you ask? Not even considering the usual busy schedule I have working at a newspaper, and at a local mega-entertainment store, my life is in a bit of upheaval (more so than usual) at the moment.
Nothing bad, mind you. In fact, if everything works out, my professional and personal life shall improve greatly in the next couple of months. Here’s to hope and a bit of luck. A lot of luck.
It’s like riding a roller coaster in the dark. You know the dips and curves are there… But you don’t know exactly what is coming. So you just prepare yourself for the whiplash and turning stomachs, and hope you get off the ride feeling exhiliarated, and not retching.
Hey everybody…
There will be no strip this Friday for two reasons.
1. I am currently working on some changes to the site (a new welcome page, and a new header), and I am currently focused on creating those. When I’m not busy staring at the ceiling, that is.
2. The strip is actually finished, but after some consideration, there are a few things I’d like to change on it. So, rather than put up an inferior strip, I’ve decided to just make those changes and release it Monday. Don’t worry. It’ll be worth the wait.
Well, maybe…. 8^)

Well, as some of you have noticed and mentioned (thanks Wes), I’ve had a few typos pop up here and there. The disadvantage of not having an editor, I guess.
So, I took the time to go and fix the ones that were pointed out to me, and some that weren’t pointed out that I noticed on my own.
AND, I fixed a couple of continuity errors that were bugging the crap out of me. Most notably The Oedipus’ Wrecks club that was in the October 13 and 15th strips.
If anyone spots any other problems, just let me know. I try to keep mistakes down to a minimum, but they tend to crop up now and then. Especially at 4 in the morning, when I’m usually working on them.
Thanks again.

Man, I’ve had a very hectic week. I didn’t think I was gonna’ get this one (Play Green Acres) finished for Friday, but I busted it out, and it shows. Yuck. I was gonna’ have about a dozen people in front of the stage, but I just didn’t have time to get them all in. So, you got Bob, a waitress, and a clown… That should be scary enough, don’t you think?
Next weeks will be better.
As of today, I will be publishing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of 4 days a week. I failed to consider that we are about to enter the holiday shopping season (great time to start a strip), and I won’t have the time to produce 4 strips a week.
I have a full time job and a part time job, and they both revolve in retail in some way, so I will be very busy the next couple of months.
Sometime after New Years, I intend to bump it back up to 4, or maybe even 5, depending on the circumstances.
Guess time will tell.

How cool is this? It seems “The ‘deepest ever’ living fish have been discovered, scientists believe.”
It seems these fish, known as Pseudoliparis amblystomopsis, were discovered 4.8 miles down in the Japan Trench, east of Japan in the Pacific ocean. Let me repeat that. 4.8 MILES down.
That’ll make your ears pop.
Hello everyone! This is my first web comic, so there may be some rough patches till I get all the wrinkles of the site worked out, so please visit back often to see what new has been added.
The actual strip will be updated every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. My plans for the future will be to eventually bump up those updates to 6 days a week (and perhaps even a weekend color strip), but time is a bit tight for me right now, so 4 days a week is the current schedule.
Why a web comic about a bunch of skeptics, you may ask? Well, I always wanted to create my own comic strip, but could never think of an idea and storyline that was both original, and compelling enough for me to want to create on a daily bases for years on end. Then I got involved in the “skeptical movement” a few years ago. By involvement I mean passively being involved by reading books, websites and listening to these new things called podcasts that were appearing on the scene. I never was an active participant because I wasn’t sure what I could do that wasn’t already done well by others. Then one day I was reading penny-arcade’s strip when I thought, “how about a skeptic comic?” So, after much thought and introspection (about 5 minutes worth), here it is.
Who is this comic for? Well, everyone hopefully. Although it may be preaching to the choir, I hope to keep the story lines simple yet compelling enough where others who stumble on the strip that aren’t skeptics may learn a little about who we are. We aren’t cynics. We aren’t trying to upset people or make them look stupid. We’re just people who put their critical thinking radar on high gear, and only ask for one thing. When making extraordinary claims, please bring the extraordianry evidence to back it up. I think that sums it up well.
So, please visit often, and if you see anything in the strip or on this blog that is incorrect, just let me know, either through the comments, the forum, or the contact page.
Thank you for your patronage, and I hope to see you here often.
